Kristen Wheeler

Staff Attorney

Kristen Wheeler is the Staff Attorney for Strategies for Youth. She brings substantial experience working directly with individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. After graduating from Boston University School of Law in 2012, she worked for six years as a public defender with the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS), Massachusetts’ public defender office. In her work at CPCS, Kristen was a trial attorney representing indigent clients accused of misdemeanors and serious felonies at all stages of the criminal trial process in the Middlesex County District Courts and Boston District and Superior Courts. Since 2018, Kristen served as Assistant Director of Public Interest and Government at Northeastern University School of Law’s Center for Co-op and Career Development. At Northeastern, she worked closely with law students, counseling and advising them on their career paths across a wide array of practice areas and settings. Prior to law school, Kristen earned her B.A. from Bowdoin College, where she majored in Sociology, and worked as a research assistant on criminal justice policy analysis at Abt Associates.
