Kim Simon

Law Enforcement Training Director

Kim has an extensive career as an officer and trainer in the state of Virginia, where she served as the SRO Training and Program Coordinator for the Department of Criminal Justice Services. In this position, she was responsible for both the development of curriculum content, and implementation of training and certification of all certified Virginia law enforcement officers assigned as School Resource Officers (SROs). She has represented the VA DCJS before constituent groups, associations, and state/national agency meetings. In addition to training SROs, Kim is an IADLEST-certified trainer, and a Forensic Science Realistic De-escalation Instructor, and has been an IALEFI Certified Master Firearms Instructor for more than a decade.  Kim has worked as an SRO or a coordinator of SROs for sheriff’s offices and schools in Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Montross, Virginia.  Kim also serves as an FBI trained Crisis Negotiator for the King George County Sheriff’s Office. Kim has written on the topic of policing and is invited to present at conferences around the country on the importance of training officers to work with youth. Kim is a research member of Improving Police-Adolescent Relationships through Training (IMPART).
