Anthony V. Pierro

Anthony Pierro is the Executive Director of Strategies for Youth (SFY), a national policy and training organization dedicated to ensuring the best possible outcomes for youth in  police-youth interactions through developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and equitable training and policies. As a juvenile prosecutor, he initiated reforms to prevent and reduce juvenile delinquency and elevate systemic changes. Pierro served as Chief Juvenile Attorney at the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office in Toms River, New Jersey, from 2003 until his retirement in 2024.

The role of law enforcement and ensuring officers are trained in juvenile law has been a key focus for Pierro, who is also a certified law enforcement trainer. When he leads conversations at the national level about the role of prosecutors in juvenile justice reform, he often addresses the importance of preparing officers to work with youth. In 2020, Pierro was appointed to the President’s Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice and served on the Juvenile Justice and Youth Crime Working Group. Pierro was also selected to participate in a nationwide Juvenile Prosecutor’s Leadership Network that provided expertise on issues facing the juvenile justice system. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Seton Hall University and his Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from New England Law-Boston.
